RHS juniors and seniors, check your email for important information concerning this month's prom fundraiser! Prom is on March 15th and will be here before we know it! All prom tickets are $75 for both juniors and seniors, and this fundraiser specifically offers each student an opportunity to reduce the cost of his or her ticket while raising money for an incredible prom!

With the help of local and state sponsors, 7th grade students from Russellville Middle School are beginning the American Character Program this year. Students will learn civics, history, character, careers and financial literacy in a format that uses excitement as its engagement platform. The lessons are in comic book format and expand into class exercises and activities that have serious impact. After studying the character and impact of historical American figures, they are then challenged to put their own character in action. At the kickoff event, students were introduced to the program and the service learning component that will empower them to make a difference in their community and beyond. These “#GoodCharacters” projects will see students, along with local mentors, working to solve real issues. And, in the program’s conclusion, they’ll hold a #GoodCharacters Expo where they show off their bright ideas and the big deeds they accomplished. The middle school program is a continuation of the Super Citizen Program which has inspired and taught similar concepts to many of these students in elementary school. We’re pretty sure these students “had a ball” at the kickoff, and we’re excited to revisit them for the Expo!

Congratulations to RMS Student, Aiden Contreras Rodriguez for winning the RCS Golden Tiger Core Values Project Competition! RCS Curriculum Coordinator, Dr. Natalie Bendall received a $1,500 donation from Yogi’s Ballpark/FoodCo owner Mark Welborn and Kandace Phares with Vulcan Oil Company as part of the Exxon Mobil Education Alliance with local schools. The $1,500 represents $500 from Exxon and $1000 from Yogi’s that will support math and science programs at RHS. The program is made available to customers who want to participate and match funds for local schools they nominate, and Yogi is always a willing participant for this yearly event. Russellville City Schools is so thankful for the continued support we receive from #CommunityPartners like Yogi’s and appreciate programs like the Exxon Mobil Education Alliance!
